INGREDIENTS :-
(measuring cup used, 1 cup = 250 ml)
- 3/4 cup kala chana/black chickpeas (soaked overnight)
- Jeera - 1 tsp
- Haldi - 1/4 tsp
- Red Chili Pwder - 1/2 tsp
- Garam Masala - 1/4 tsp
- Mustard oil - 1/4 tsp
- Salt - as per taste
PROCEDURE :-
Step 1. Rinse Kala Chana in water for a few times, then soak in 2 cups water overnight.
Step 2. Strain the soaked water and keep aside.
Step 3. Take a pressure cooker, add 2 tbsp mustard oil and allow it to smoke. Then add 1 tsp cumin seeds and fry them till they splutter. Add the black chickpeas and saute for a minute.
Step 4. Add the dry spices - Turmeric powder, Red chili powder, Garam Masala and salt. Stir and saute the mixture. Then add 1.5 cups water and stir.
Step 5. Cover tightly with the lid and pressure cook for 15 to 18 whistles. Remove the lid and if there is some water, then simmer till the water dries.
Garnish dry kala chana & coriander leaves and then serve.
